I figured I’d start my blog-a-day posts with a subject close to me – my home.
There have been a lot of changes in my life this past year. Graduating from university, getting a job at IBM, Tom starting school, and moving into an apartment that wasn’t a thin-walled creepfest are some of the highlights. I guess you could say I’ve finally grown up into an adult… though I’ll always be a kid at heart.
My last apartment was also my first apartment. Tom and I moved in during Christmas of 2006. Word to the wise, as long as you don’t mind “ruining” the x-mas spirit, it’s a great time to move as the roads are empty! Things were rough at times, as can be expected with me being in school. But we managed pretty well. One thing that sucked about that apartment: other than the thin walls (*thump* *crash* *thump*), it was right next to a special public high school for artsy students, which caused the local bus service to be PARALYZED at 8am and 4pm. Hoards of kids everywhere. One thing that rocked was the awesome swimming pool that was very nearly always empty.
My new apartment is a substantial upgrade. Not only are the walls solid and soundproof, it’s in a great location, and there’s no sketchy people hanging around. We upgraded to a 2-bedroom, a much needed change. Now we can have more than two people over! Carpeting and central AC were also very welcomed.
Today’s photo is trying to capture the flavour of this moment, this time in my life where everything seems to be sorting itself out nicely.
