Bleh.

My gosh, close to twenty days since an update! Well at least it won’t BE 20 days thanks to this!

Life has been busy for sure. I’ve had less time to work on my crafts recently, and with Christmas coming up I think I’ll have to make time for it. Work has been a bit busy with a lot of podcasts, and I’m recording another today.

Overall though, this month has been really ‘bleh’. Not too fun, although I’m keeping up with my kettlebell workouts so at least something’s getting done…

Day of Finishing Projects

Today I have a serious goal: finish a bunch of projects I’ve been working on!

  • I have another reversible bag that only needs a drawstring casing made.
  • There’s my 1-Up Quilt, now that I have some batting I can finish it.
  • A CD holder for my car using the same fabrics as my Seatbelt Cover.
  • A multimedia bag to hold my podcasting gear.
  • Two seatbelt covers for my mum’s van.
  • Christmas presents!!
  • Starting some of the tutorials I’ve posted here… and posting a new batch of found ones!

And then, of course, I picked up my stamp set from Nikoart yesterday, and I really want to use them everywhere!

Not enough time, gotta get to sewing now!!

Blog-a-day #2

I went to a craft fair recently, and the best booth by far was this spectacular one. All types of jewelery, hair clips, earrings, bracelets, and tons of broaches. He’s handmade all these pieces, and really enjoyed helping the women find a perfect piece. Here are some more photos of his work.

Blog-a-day #1

509, originally uploaded by mizuhana.

I figured I’d start my blog-a-day posts with a subject close to me – my home.

There have been a lot of changes in my life this past year. Graduating from university, getting a job at IBM, Tom starting school, and moving into an apartment that wasn’t a thin-walled creepfest are some of the highlights. I guess you could say I’ve finally grown up into an adult… though I’ll always be a kid at heart.

My last apartment was also my first apartment. Tom and I moved in during Christmas of 2006. Word to the wise, as long as you don’t mind “ruining” the x-mas spirit, it’s a great time to move as the roads are empty! Things were rough at times, as can be expected with me being in school. But we managed pretty well. One thing that sucked about that apartment: other than the thin walls (*thump* *crash* *thump*), it was right next to a special public high school for artsy students, which caused the local bus service to be PARALYZED at 8am and 4pm. Hoards of kids everywhere.  One thing that rocked was the awesome swimming pool that was very nearly always empty.

My new apartment is a substantial upgrade. Not only are the walls solid and soundproof, it’s in a great location, and there’s no sketchy people hanging around. We upgraded to a 2-bedroom, a much needed change. Now we can have more than two people over! Carpeting and central AC were also very welcomed.

Today’s photo is trying to capture the flavour of this moment, this time in my life where everything seems to be sorting itself out nicely.

Blog-a-day 2008 Day 0

So it’s the month of November already, that means it’s NaNoWriMo time! But I’m not really much of a writer, not a novel writer at least. However, I can still take the theme of NaNo and use it in my life.

Due to my recent love of sewing, I haven’t been taking any pictures recently of things that aren’t sewing related. So I’ve decided I’ll take and upload a new picture each day before 9pm EST. I also want to write more mini blog posts, so I’ll write a blog post with the photo as well. And since today’s the 4th, I’ll take three photos to make up for the lost time!

Setting goals like these really gives me something to work for, draws attention to the value of my time, but also makes for a fun reoccurring project. I encourage you to strive for something in November as well – set a goal, try to do something new, accomplish something you have been putting off. Because let’s face it, November is a pretty boring month here in Canada – no holidays or events of interest (minus of course Remembrance Day on the 11th), the weather’s pretty mucky and inconsistent… for these reasons and more it’s a great month to dedicate to a task!
